Empowering Communities through Arts Education Art Faces - SENIIKU Market

Singapore International Foundation continued the partnership with former volunteer Dr Esther Joosa to conduct a train-the-trainers workshop entitled Empowering Communities through Arts Education in Tamil Nadu, India. Some 25 social workers from four NGOs learnt how to incorporate the arts within their care-giving practices for communities affected by HIV.

The eight-day workshop commenced with an overview of arts-based initiatives designed for community development for 25 caregivers, and was followed by one-on-one mentorship sessions with Dr Joosa. She and the 25 caregivers also conducted various arts activities, such as self-portraiture sessions, with more than 100 local participants from HIV-affected communities in Tamil Nadu.

We feel it is important to give voice to our emerging, talented creators in Asia (we are based in Asia), especially those who are not privileged to have access to good art community or creative platform, including those who are using art to make ends meet. Your monetary support is helpful to improve our operations to reach out to them through SME communities, cultural events, etc.
